New construction totals 304,957 sf and renovations encompass 451,656 sf. Jonathan Bailey & Associates, with offices in Dallas and London, is the architect. A general contractor and landscape architect have not been selected, GlobeSt.com has been told. The 34-acre Medical City Dallas, which now consists of 1.5 million sf, is eyeing a summer or fall groundbreaking.
A hospital contact says $30 million of the project cost is being kicked in by Medical City Dallas Ltd., owner of the physical structures. The facility had been founded in 1974 by a group of physicians and businessmen. The balance of the tab is coming the operational owner, Tennessee-based HCA, she says.
The new construction consists of a seven-story tower, primarily for the North Texas Hospital for Children at Medical City Dallas; medical office building and parking garage; state-of-the-art conference center; two-story wing for the emergency room department and cardiopulmonary services. "This is the culmination of a tremendous amount of effort on the part of Medical City administrators and staff," Andrew M. Stern, board of trustees' chairman, says in a prepared statement. "Every physician and virtually every staff member had input into the project."
Medical City Dallas, located at 7777 Forest Lane at Central Expressway, includes Medical City Dallas Hospital and the North Texas Hospital for Children at Medical City Dallas. The hospital has more than 2,300 employees and about 1,370 physicians, with more than 400 offices on the campus.
