New FREC Head Vows to Clamp Down on Unlicensed Realtors

ORLANDO-Dean Saunders, owner of Lakeland, FL-based Saunders Real Estate and a former member of Florida's House of Representatives, says the illegal practice makes it difficult for professionals to compete on a level playing field.

ORLANDO-Unlicensed Realtors are doing deals across Florida, creating a handicap for the licensed professionals, charges Dean Saunders, the new chairman of Orlando-based Florida Real Estate Commission.

“There’s quite a number of people across the state practicing real estate without a license,” Saunders tells GlobeSt.com. “That only makes it more difficult for the licensed professionals to do their jobs and represent their clients.”

He says, “My goal this year will be to focus on unlicensed broker activity.” The former member of Florida’s House of Representatives, adds, “I want to make sure we enforce the existing laws and strengthen the statutes.”
