Founded in the 1930s by Tally and Margaret Hughes of Denver, the company grown to 15 retail stores in1959 and then had been to the Tepper family, also from Denver. The Teppers had expanded the business to 19 stores in the 1960s and 1970s and then began scaling back in the 1980s and 1990s. Gas-station mini marts that served ice cream and discount stores had proved too much competition. The company still supplies ice cream and milk to dairies and other restaurants. Only its stores in front of its plant in northwest Denver at W. 48th Avenue and Tennyson Street will remain open.
