In a prepared statement from Liquid Audio, Hard Rock estimates the value of its music memorabilia collection at $32 million.
"As a brand name that appeals to music lovers across the world, Hard Rock Café is a natural to become a popular online music destination, making digital downloads available to music fans," Paul Melnychuk, vice president of sales and business development at Liquid Audio, says in a prepared statement.
Liquid Audio's music delivery software and turnkey music store "will integrate a virtual inventory of secure, downloadable commercial and promotional tracks into Hard Rock Café's existing web site," Melnychuk says.
In the same statement, Ron Ward, Hard Rock's senior director, information technology, says "the hardrock.com site has exceptional potential and will be an important marketing tool for us as we enter our 30th year."
Hard Rock International is a wholly owned subsidiary of London-based Rank Group.
