OAKLAND-While neighboring areas suffer a glut of vacancies, proximity to public transit, the airport and other amenities have attracted two companies to the City Center building at 505 14th St. in downtown Oakland. The MMI Group Inc., a division of St. Paul’s Insurance Co, leased 14,075 sf and Elm Resources signed on for 3,215 sf.

Shorenstein Realty Services handled the lease transactions. Both are six-year leases that commence March 1, 2002.

MMI Group, which manages the professional risk management division of St. Paul’s Insurance Company, will house 40 to 45 employees on the fourth and the sixth floors of the City Center building.
