Microsoft also runs such labs in Toronto, Boston and Austin, TX and another is to open in Chicago soon. The facilities are being well received by clients who get use of an entire laboratory for a typical consulting fee, without the added cost of a plane flight to Redmond, WA.
The facility in San Jose is the largest such facility Microsoft has commissioned. It includes 200 high-end application servers from Compaq Computer, which contributed $6 million to the center.
