Strategic Hotel Capital president and CEO Laurence Geller says increasing the number of hotel rooms, time share units, a golf course and related residential activities are being considered for the property.
"The Four Seasons Punta Mita is just completing its initial start-up phase," Geller says. "We intend to capitalize on its significant upside potential by applying our aggressive asset management programs and skills to help the resort fully establish itself in the market and then further develop the resort's potential."
Strategic Hotel Capital already owns a Four Seasons hotel in Mexico City. The company recently won the "Single Asset Deal of the Year" award at the International Hotel Investment Forum in Berlin for its acquisition of the 277-room Hamburg Marriott Hotel. Strategic Hotel Capital won the award in 2000 for the acquisition of the Hotel Inter-Continental Praha in Prague.
