City Eyeing Farmland for Parks and Low-Cost Housing

ENCINITAS, CA-City leaders failed to voted as expected on an plan to buy 44 acres of agricultural land for ball fields, affordable housing an other uses.

The final draft of the agreement between owner Robert Hall and the city wasn't ready in time for Wednesday night's meeting, according to cityofficials. The council will likely vote at a special meeting next week.

Under the agreement, the parcel will become one of the city's largest parks. Residents support a city purchase of the property for ballfields, a swimming pool, housing and gardens.
