The 1.4-million-sf, 23-story building occupying an entire city block was designed by Daniel Burnham and opened in 1912 as the Insurance Exchange Building. The exterior and floor plates remain after a redesign by Chicago architectural firm Lucien Lagrange and Associates and more than a year of work by Walsh Construction.

The Jackson Boulevard entrance now features a glass canopy, new windows and a redesignedcherry-wood-walled lobby with Italian marble floors. A two-story-high ceiling was created. However, the center of the first floor now features a 50-foot-high, glass-and-steel atrium. The center of the building is open above the atrium, allowing sunlight.

"The transformation of 175 W. Jackson will uphold the integrity and esteem of this grand building, thereby reclaiming its stature as a prestigious business address," says leasing director Menahem Deitcher.

The building's owner is Louisville, KY-based 175 Jackson LLC.
