Houston's Fifth Hawthorn Hotel Breaks Ground

HOUSTON-Ground has broken on the city's fifth Hawthorn hotel. The 59-suite facility is being built near the Bush Intercontinental Airport, which due diligence shows will be a strong market for the brand's extended-stay venue.

HOUSTON-Dirt’s flying on Texas’ 24th Hawthorn hotel and Houston’s fifth at the Bush Intercontinental Airport in the city’s northern tier.

Sabrina’s Hospitality Inc. and US Franchise Systems are developing the three-story, 59-suite hotel project at 7014 Will Clayton Pkwy. US Franchise Systems is the parent company to Hawthorn Ltd. Sabrina’s Hospitality also owns the Budget Lodge in Channelview, TX.

The average construction time is nine months, putting delivery in the fall, says US Franchise Systems. Houston-based architect, DR Associates, has designed the hotel, which is an extended-stay venue as opposed to a full-service facility. The Hawthorn will offer amenities such as dual phone lines and voice mail, microwaves, refrigerators, coffee makers and irons and ironing boards. The project also includes an outdoor pool, fitness center, business center and complimentary airport shuttle.
