Rabin Worldwide, a San Bruno, Calif., auctioneer, started the process Monday at the Medford store, Tuesday was the Eugene store, today is the Salem store and tomorrow is the Clackamas Town Center store. Items being auctioned include clothing racks, jewelry display cases, cash registers, phone systems, surveillance equipment and coin and bill counters.

Chicago-based Montgomery Ward on Dec. 28 announced it would close all 252 of its stores and 10 distribution centers this spring and sell off its assets to amortize more than $100 million in debt. Target Corp. already has agreed to buy 35 Ward's in 12 states, including Portland stores at Mall 205 and Jantzen Beach locations, and Sears Roebuck and Co. says it will buy 18 Ward's and 10 affiliated auto centers, plus Ward's appliance service and repair business.
