Lotus to Move Some Operations

WESTFORD, MA-Lotus Development Corp. plans to move some of its operations from Cambridge to its facilities here, where it plans to expand. Despite the much cheaper real estate prices here, the company insists it's not an economic move.

WESTFORD, MA-Lotus Development Corp., a division of IBM, is planning to move some of its operations from its headquarters in Cambridge to its facilities here where it plans on expanding. While real estate prices in this area are much lower than in Cambridge, Mary Rose Greenough, director of worldwide corporate communications for the company, insists that the move has nothing to do with economics.

“It is not part of our plan to reduce costs. We are making the absolute best use of the space available to us,” she tells GlobeSt.com. “We are making some changes. We find that our development community and recruitment activity is in the 495 area and we want to accommodate that. We need to expand and recruit talent.”
