Costco Tries Something Different in LA

ISSAQUAH, WA-The locally based, typically stand-alone volume retailer will be the anchor tenant in a 440,000-sf mixed-use development on the site of a former Sears store at 4550 West Pico Blvd.

ISSAQUAH, WA–Costco Wholesale’s familiar, “big box” solo look will get some company in mid-town Los Angeles. The discount volume retailer will be part of a just-approved “stacked” development that will include restaurants, a complementary mix of retail shops, a self-storage facility, and a bus terminal shared by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) and Santa Monica’s Big Blue Bus.

Kital-Pico LLC and its development partner, LCOR Public/Private Inc., were granted approval from the Los Angeles Planning Commission to build Pico Plaza, a 440,000-square-foot mixed-use development located at 4550 West Pico Blvd. It will be anchored by a stacked Costco-Home Depot structure.
