The People's Choice TV of Houston Inc. is selling 5,145 cable passings in 20 apartment complexes in the Houston area. Home Theater and Sprint had formerly managed the passings. In line with the buy, USOL plans to convert the delivery platform to digital at several properties and add channels.
USOL's CEO Rob Solomon says the deal will expand relationships with several partners plus bring some new players into the fold. The USOL presence, he says, will nearly double.
In another recent deal, US OnLine, a USOL Holdings Inc. subsidiary, has signed a long-term contract with Atlanta-based Gables Residential Trust, which has an 80-complex portfolio in rapidly growing markets. The subsidiary will be providing high-speed Internet service to the 300-unit Gables at Green Oaks in Arlington. The company currently services the community's cable TV needs. The deal certainly could set the stage for additional Gables' properties, says Solomon.
