SAN JOSE, CA-In direct opposition with the San Jose City Council, U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein endorsed the building of the Metcalf Energy Center a 600-megawatt power plant proposed to be built in Coyote Valley during a recent luncheon speech before the Silicon Valley Manufacturing Group. With the city’s biggest employer Cisco Systems lobbying for the decision, the city council unanimously voted to block construction of the plant back in November.

Feinstein told more than 25 CEO’s during the Silicon Valley Manufacturing Group luncheon that the state is facing an energy crisis and it is important to the future of the state to build the plant. She also added with the possibility of blackouts now and in the future Californians must consider every source of energy.
