ALBANY-New York State has approved funding that will enable Hastings-on-Hudson and Orangetown to acquire property that will enhance their waterfront districts. Gov. George Pataki reports that $335,000 has been earmarked for Hastings-on-Hudson to acquire and preserve 14.25 acres of riverfront property. The site will provide a link between the Old Croton Aqueduct State Historic Park and the Hastings waterfront that will enhance public access to the river and extend the village’s trail system and parkland along the river. The property lies just north of the Yonkers border and is owned by the Graham School and Graham-Windham Services to Families and Children, a not-for-profit residential treatment center for children.

The governor also reports that the state has provided the town of Orangetown in Rockland County with $387,500 to acquire and preserve the Mary Blake Property. Acquisition of that 25-acre parcel will provide a link between Schuler Town Park, Buttermilk Falls County Park and Blauvelt State Park. The property is currently in danger of development, according to state officials.
