The Austin-based developer is undertaking the project in a joint venture with Coldwell's Ridgway Lane & Associates of Jackson, which will market and manage the property. The facility will be built in stages, with the first 60,000 sf due to deliver in second quarter 2002. It will be a state-of-the-art structure for receiving, storing, transferring and distributing domestic and international freight.
"We plan to create a next-generation fully intermodal facility that will have regional benefits to Jackson as a growing alternative airport," says Ray Brimble, Lynxs' managing partner. The airport is situated in a foreign trade zone and serves as a US Customs entry port. The airport's major express carriers are expected to be among the first leaseholders.
The Lynxs Group develops CargoPorts, which are unique facilities with intermodal access that are specifically designed to meet needs of carriers and airports. The structure feature direct rampside access, wide-body aircraft parking, fueling stations and office space. Brimble, an Austin businessman, owns Lynxs Holdings LLC, with the Lynxs Group consisting of Brimble and partners at each of his CargoPort locations.
