If approved, the money would be available in the next federal fiscal year, which begins Sept. 31. The airport services building would total 3,000 sf. It would be built out with a rest area for pilots as well as meeting rooms, offices and possibly a café.

Other projects, including improvements to the runway that would allow it to take in larger aircraft, would be funded with a combination of existing airport funds and state and federal grants. Madras and Jefferson County officials are meeting Thursday with the Oregon Economic and Community Development Department Thursday to discuss designs and costs for an industrial park. Grading could begin in the fall or winter.
