La Quinta Inns Inc. has cut the ribbon on its third Jackson, MS hotel and the first under the hotelier's franchise program. The three-story, 65-room Inn & Suites represents the first converted franchised property. It is located in Pearl near Jackson International Airport. The hotel is owned by Pearl Days Enterprises, with Roy Patel as principal owner.

Wyndham International Inc. has named Gary Gutierrez as area director of operations and general manager for the recently renovated 352-room Wyndham City Center in Washington, DC. Also copping a top spot is Dave Rossman, who is the general manager for a 394-room Wyndham Newark Airport hotel, and Ian Harvey, general manager for the 320-room Wyndham Roanoke Airport in Virginia.

Gutierrez oversees Wyndham Hotels in the Washington, DC area and parts of Virginia. Among his assignments have been the 408-room Wyndham Miami Airport and the 231-room Hotel Galvez in Galveston, TX.

Rossman is overseeing the $32-million renovation of the Wyndham Newark Airport, which opens in the fourth quarters. He also is charged with setting up a Wyndham office in Newark. Ian Harvey, new general manager of Wyndham Roanoke Airport, had been the rooms division director for the 300-room Wyndham Sugar Bay Beach Club & Resort in St. Thomas.
