Supervalu Keeps 1, Closes Another Facility

EDEN PRAIRIE, MN-A deal to sell two facilities falls through. While it is keeping its Perryman, MD distribution facility open, Supervalu Inc. will close its Suffield, CT food warehouse June 30.

The company hopes to maximize its use of the 600,000-sf Perryman facility as a distributor of perishables, says Mike Jackson, executive vice president of the $23-billion food wholesaler and retailer. Supervalu says Perryman's central location and productive workforce complements its logistics network in the Mid-Atlantic and New England region.

Business handled by the Suffield facility will be transferred to other Supervalu distribution centers in New England.
