Retail developments of 300,000 sf instead of 500,000 sf will now be considered DRI's requiring various levels of approval. The threshold for office projects falls from 500,000 sf to 400,000 sf.
The state promises a decision on a project within a 30-day period or a maximum 45-day period if problem areas arise, according to a prepared statement from the Department of Community Affairs.
The rules are the result of more than a year of meetings to establish new guidelines and decide how to include the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority in the review process. GRTA has to make a positive finding on DRI reviews before state funds for transportation can be released.
