An additional 21 Brick citations were handed out to other projects and Downtown development personalities.
The four top slots went to to the one-year-old, 16, story, 253,000-sf, $30 million Lincoln Plaza at SunTrust Center; the $15 million, 167-room Embassy Suites Hotel Orlando Downtown developed by locally based Dalton Hotel Corp.; the Charles W. Rex Jr. Administration, Science and Math Building at the private Lake Highland Preparatory School; and the new headquarters of Push Inc., an advertising agency.
Other office buildings recognized were Bowyer-Singleton's engineering headquarters building; C&L Lofts for the Old ABC Waterhouse project; KHF Inc. for the Morlan & Stovash law offices; and sunTrust Banks for its new East Colonial branch.
Three mixed-use projects were cited. They were The Exchange at Thornton Park developed by Phil Rampy; the 224-unit, 30,000-sf Post Parkside, an apartment and retail venture overlooking Lake Eola; and Hillcrest Heights Office Estate.
The George L. Stuart Award for outstanding restoration or renovation went to the Orlando Regional History Center. In the top public projects category were Heritage Square at Orlando Regional History Center; Howard Phillips Center for Children and Families; and Orlando Bikeways 2000.
Interior design project winners were the law firms of Gray, Harris & Robinson, and Shutts & Bowen; Knight Images Inc.; and Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission of Mid-Florida.
Terry Olson, co-founder of Sak Comedy Club and executive director of Central Florida Theater Alliance, was named Downtowner of the Year.
