David Farmer, a 20-year veteran of the financial industry, is now on the other side of the table in getting the decks cleared to bring the flagship project full circle. Beechwood Business Park is located in the Alliance Corridor, across from Texas Motor Speedway. A 210-acre, 18-hole Greg Norman signature golf course, the Creeks at Beechwood, had opened in October 2000 and this October will bring the opening of a 286-room Westin and an adjacent 18,000-sf conference center. The Westin Beechwood Fort Worth, situated on 50 acres, is the only four-star hotel in Denton County. That leaves 650 acres to develop.

Farmer says Beechwood has architects working on plans for a 100,000-sf office project that could break ground at the end of this year or the beginning of 2002. Proposals for corporate campus tenants are out, but the office component might just launch as a spec project, he says. Another major deal in the pipeline could break in the near future, but Farmer's mum about any details.

"For many years, I've been on the lender side of the developer equation," Farmer tells GlobeSt.com. "Hopefully what I bring to the table is the financial knowledge to steer the project toward completion."

Farmer says the infrastructure is in place and now is the time for a market push, particularly since the golf course and Westin anchors are in place. The two, he says, "create an environment that is very attractive" for corporate users, which will be the target market for Beechwood Business Park.

Farmer is the former president and CEO of the Mercantile Bank and Trust in Dallas, a $200-million Federal Savings Bank that has the reputation of being one of the region's premier home mortgage lenders. He also held lead executive positions at the Beal Bank of Dallas.
