Lakeside at DFW project is an undertaking of Alan Stewart, a member of the well-known and high-profile family that has owned the land for 26 years. Stewart's family, specifically his grandfather, had been the developer of Dallas' prestigious Highland Park.
The mixed-use development is underwritten by the highest high-tech capabilities available, with dual source and dual feed electrical power. Advanced business telecommunications will feature multiple sources of high-speed fiber optics and cable. In all, the waterfront master plan calls for low-rise to high-rise corporate campuses, specialty office, retail, conference center, resort hotel, fitness and medical facilities. The project's centerpiece, Sunset Point, is planned as a major destination for waterfront dining, shopping and entertaining and will resemble a hilltop coastal town. Terraced walkways will connect to three office towers and a European-style esplanade will provide a setting for high-end boutiques, bistro, outdoor cafes and performing arts and entertainment venues.
The Stewart land is in the 15,000-acre Grapevine Lake recreational area and is just a six- minute drive from the DFW airport. A dock will provide access to four marinas for the nine-mile-long lake.
To date, the only information released about Lakeside at DFW has been of a preliminary marketing nature. The full picture of the development scheme is being kept under wraps until the Verizon reception, Stewart tells GlobeSt.com.
