Next month, the Board of Supervisors will consider conditions that could affect more than a dozen tribes. The issue was discussed at the board's May 23 meeting, but won't consider it formally until June 13.

The Pauma Indian reservation has been involved in a running battle with the county over its attempt to secure a license, prompting county officials to draft specific guidelines. The county has objected to the issuance of a license to the state Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control because of traffic safety concerns on the twisting roads leading to the facility.

Pauma officials accuse the county of playing favorites because it hasn't opposed other liquor applications in the county.
