Known as Termoelectrica de Mexicali, the $350 million plant will rise in Mexicali, Baja California. It will have the capacity to generate 600 megawatts of electricity and will be connected to the US electric grid via a 230,000-volt transmission line, according to ICA Fluor officials.
"Termoelectrica de Mexicali will be a clean, combined-cycle, gas-fired plant designed to have a minimal impact on the environment, will comply with the air-emissions standards of both California and Mexico, and will use recycled water from a nearby treatment facility to conserve scarce fresh water resources," says Jorge Borja, general director of ICA Fluor Daniel.
