The developer still needs variances to proceed. The key one would allow the project to go above the site's height limit of 30 feet. The site itself totals more than 50 acres, which would allow Stanbery to leave a significant amount of greenbelt area. Public hearings are expected to continue until mid-September, with a vote slated for shortly thereafter.

Stanbery is a new organization, formed recently by principals of Continental Real Estate. The company has its New Jersey office in Manasquan, and currently has one other New Jersey shopping center, the 72,000-sf Marlton Specialty Center in Cherry Hill. Other company projects are located in its hometown of Columbus, as well as in Pittsburgh and metropolitan Washington, DC.
