The locally-based retailer intends to continue to bring new stores into operation, beginning this week with construction commencing on facilities in Las Vegas and Coral Gables, FL. Nordstrom spokesmen say entry into both markets are key components of the company's expansion plans.

Matt Construction, the general contractor selected for the Fashion Show in Las Vegas, has moved onsite and will begin mobilization work on the 180,000-sf facility. The store mark's Nordstrom's first full-line store in Nevada.

The erection of structural steel framework will begin this summer. After the steel framework is completed, construction on the exterior facade of the three-level store will begin this fall. The store interior is scheduled to begin in early winter.

IBEX Construction, the general contractor selected for the Village of Merrick Park store in Coral Gables, has moved onsite and will begin laying out foundation. The 200,000-sf store is scheduled to open in fall 2002.

The first phase of construction will begin with foundation work followed by structural steel framework later this summer. After the steel framework is completed, construction on the exterior facade of the three-level store will begin. The store interior is scheduled to begin this fall.
