Discount Tire's new headquarters will be situated at the northeast corner of Scottsdale Road and Thompson Peak Parkway in the master-planned community of Grayhawk. When completed, the class A headquarters will consolidate five leased sites in the city. "It was our hope to stay in Scottsdale and we are very pleased to be moving to the Grayhawk community," says Bob Holman, Discount Tire executive vice president.
Opus West Construction Corp. is constructing the building designed by the Phoenix-based Butler Design Group. The first phase will be completed by October 2002. The company also has purchased an additional 10 acres for future expansion.
"We are proud that Discount Tire has chosen to remain in the City of Scottsdale," says Scottsdale Mayor Mary Manross. "They are valued greatly as a corporate neighbor and community minded company."
Discount Tire currently employs 286 in its corporate offices. It employs 1,467 total employees in Arizona.
Nationally, Discount Tire is a leading retail and service company, operating 450 outlet and distribution centers in 18 states, with plans to grow to 1,000 stores nationwide by 2010. The privately owned company was founded in 1960 and had exceeded $1 billion in annual sales by 1999.
