Both J.C. Penney and Macy'sclosed there--Penney's last year and Macy's in 1998.After stores in the Penney's wing shut down, that wingwas closed off permanently. Rich's and Sears continuedto anchor the mall.

The mall, built 21 years ago, is facingstiff competition from newer centers in neighboringDouglas County and a planned mall in Newnan, thoughdeveloper CBL & Associates Properties, which ownsArbor Place in Douglas County, has not yet begunconstruction in Newnan, GA.
