About 180 employees will make the move to the property, located at 7807 Creekridge Circle on Interstate 494.
Welsh had operated out of its headquarters offices at 8200 Normandale Blvd. in Bloomington and at 5666 Lincoln Dr. in Edina. Several years ago, the fast growing Welsh outgrew its headquarters space, and moves its construction and architectural businesses to the Edina building. Its lease at 8200 Normandale was expiring in 2002, says Jean Kane, president and chief operating officer of Welsh. That and a desire to consolidate its staff at one location drove the decision to move, she adds.
"It's good to be in our own building, and we're excited to be together again under the same roof," Kane says.
Welsh is subleasing the building from Computer Associates, who had taken over the lease when itbought Sterling Software. Welsh also signed a primary lease with the Chicago-based RREEF Funds, the owner of the building. Together, the leases total seven years, Kane says.
Welsh is a $125-million, privately held, commercial real estate company that includes brokerage, management and construction divisions.
