BWI Cos. Inc. of Schulenberg, TX is expected to buy about $1 million worth of VJ's inventory and possibly hire a dozen VJ workers for its new 90,000-sf plant five miles west of the VJ site, industry sources familiar with the transaction tell GlobeSt.com on condition of anonymity.
BWI already has bought $1 million of VJ's inventory at Homestead, FL in South Florida.
Officials at BWI and VJ couldn't be reached at GlobeSt.com's publication deadline to learn the fate of VJ's real estate holdings on the U.S. 441 site, 17 miles northwest of Downtown Orlando.
VJ logged $12 million in sales this year, $3 million under budget. The company has booked annual sales of $50 million in past years.
Industry sources tell GlobeSt.com the interior plant-growing business has developed into a $150 million market in Orange, Seminole and Lake counties alone, the three nearest locations to Orlando.
