The Gables Ellis Street project represents the final phase to Gables' State-Thomas District development, started in 1999. "It is especially gratifying to increase our presence in Uptown Dallas, an area with unusually high barriers to entry," says Chris Wheeler, Gables Chairman and CEO. The announcement comes with the start of project leasing in Tampa and Atlanta. Wheeler adds that "all three communities are examples of our strategic plan to target the affluent renter-by-choice and locate our developments in the best submarkets."

The Uptown expansion comes just as Gables State-Thomas Ravello, situated at 2610 Allen St., is nearing completion. That project is located right around the corner of State Street where Gables has its State-Thomas Townhomes. Units in the Uptown project rent for $1,399 per month for a 1,010-sf townhome to as much as $3,355 per month for a 2,222-sf unit.

All told, Gables Ellis Street will be the 12th project in the Dallas lineup for the high-end developer. It is carrying a summer 2002 delivery date.
