The 168,000-sf warehouse addition will rise in Mira Loma,adjacent to Footstar's existing 350,000-sf facility. It willfeature a highly automated cross dock facility and a 90,000-sf"pop-out" portion in the center of the structure. This "pop-out"area will have a 50-ft clear height to accommodate high mastforklifts.

The concrete tilt-up will also include a two-story parkingstructure and 30,000 sf of office space. The office space willcontain a lounge and a health suite equipped with free weights,Lifecycle and a multi-purpose court for basketball, racquetball andvolleyball. A raised floor training area will also be built, whichwill double as a site for regular "family night" movie events, saysTodd Larson, senior director of operations for Footstar.

"We believe we are setting a standard for construction, designand quality of workplace amenities," Larson says. "We did not wantto build horizontally because land is so valuable in this region…Inthe process, we created secure parking for cars and reduced walkingdistance for over 100 employees."
