The leases, which began Sept. 1 and run through Nov. 1, collectively exceed 563,000 sf. Michael J. Olsen of The Staubach Company's Seattle retail sales division represented Spirit Halloween Superstores in the transactions. Last year, Olsen handled the leasing of 107,000 sf for the company. Staubach is headquartered in Dallas, TX.

The popularity of temporary leases has continued to grow over the past five years among seasonal retailers like Spirit Halloween who need prime space for very short periods, says Olsen. An increasing number of property owners are also realizing the benefits of quality temporary retailers and are more willing to enter into short-term agreements.

"Several of Spirit Halloween's store locations involve retailers that have surplus properties throughout the county," comments Olsen. "It's a win-win situation for everyone involved since it fills a void for both parties, and Spirit Halloween's boost in customer traffic tends to benefit other tenants in the same shopping centers."
