The site is located at the intersection of Southwest Freeway and Beltway 8. Chris Hotze of Southwest Realty Advisors in Houston represented the seller, HRM Partners, while Southwest Realty's Marc Drumwright acted on behalf of the dealership.
Drumwright tells GlobeSt.com that the Southwest Freeway location and its proximity to other auto dealers were the major drivers in the deal. The project calls for a 15,000-sf building and 2 1/2 acres of parking space. The dealership will be located on the last available large tract in that section of town.
The Houston project, says Drumwright, will serve as a prototype for a new architectural design being implemented by the manufacturer. The dealership should be open in about eight months, he confirms.
Until then, the game plan is to open an alternate site in November to get business built up in time for the launch, says Drumwright. The alternate site is still waiting to be inked, he says.
Drumwright says Saab previously serviced and sold a few cars through Neil Sefeldt Volvo, but it was sold. After that transpired, Saab contacted the owner about starting a franchise for parent Saab Automobile AB, according to Drumwright who's mum about the dealership owner's identity.
