Jerry Heare, an industrial site and facility location specialist with Austin's NAI/Commercial Industrial Properties Co., represented the River Ridge Business Park, owned by BMC Real Estate. John McCrocklin of McCrocklin Real Estate represented the university.
Southwestern is building two dormitories on campus and taking the spot where the warehouse was situated. The growing university has more than 22,000 students.
River Ridge covers 250 acres just off Interstate 35 in San Marcos. Butler Manufacturing, with 90 acres, is the biggest tenant. Grande Communications Inc., which is building a high-speed communications network between Austin and San Antonio, also is a lead tenant, using its location for its headquarters. McComb Construction of Austin is the general contractor for the university warehouse.
