SAN DIEGO-The law is on the books, and now Save Our NTC Inc. has filed suit to force compliance, requiring a 30-foot height restriction on buildings constructed at the former Naval Training Center. A mixed-use project is on the boards.

Proposition D, as the measure was known, was approved by 63% of the voters in 1972. Developers have proposed a mixed-use project at the former military installation located between Lindbergh Field and Rosecrans Street.

The project, which is slated to include office buildings, educational and cultural facilities, residential, retail entertainment and parkland, is one of the most ambitious oceanfront projects on the West Coast.
