The Pascua Yaqui Indian Tribe is the project developer and Phoenix-based Kitchell Contractors, the general contractor. Leo A. Daly, headquartered in Washington, DC is the architect for the major undertaking, located about 12 miles southwest of downtown Tucson, near Interstate 19.
The second phase includes a 240,000-sf casino, seven restaurants, child-care facility and arcade. Down the road, the just completed 70,000-sf casino completed will be converted into a 36-lane bowling alley. The second phase is expected to be completed by spring 2003, becoming the largest casino and entertainment complex in Arizona. The final phase of the project will include an 18-hole championship golf course and major hotel resort.
Kitchell Contractors has captured a number of development projects on Indian reservations in the state and throughout the Southwest, including the Cliff Castle Casino project for the Yavapai-Apache Nation in Camp Verde, AZ, Paiute Resort Clubhouse for the Paiute Indian Community in Las Vegas and phase I of Black Oak Casino near Sonora, CA for the Tuolumne Band of Me-Wuk Indians.
