Helman Hurley Charvat Peacock Architects Inc. of suburban Maitland, FL is the largest architectural firm in Central Florida. The company has designed an estimated $10 billion worth of commercial/industrial/medical/retail projects over the past 26 years, according to GlobeSt.com research.

Helman is a longtime supporter and participant in local philanthropic, social, medical and educational enterprises. When he first thought of forming the company, he asked his mother for advice, Helman once told GlobeSt.com.

"That's nice," his mother told Helman, "but do me one favor, my good son. Put the Helman name in front of the other partners' names."

Also being honored at the awards banquet at the 1,000-room Rosen Centre Hotel are hotelier Henri Landwirth, who created Kids Village, a 51-acre resort in Kissimmee, FL that entertains terminally ill children; John Tiedtke, the Winter Park, FL landowner and president of Eastgate Farms and Shawnee Farms sugar plantations at Lake Okeechobee, FL and longtime patron of the arts in Orlando; and George J. White Sr., a well-known banker who died in 1976.
