The hotel, a block west of the Austin Convention Center, will include meeting space, an exercise room, sweet shop and swimming pool. Valencia Hotel Corp. is developing the hotel.
Demolition began this week for Cousins Properties Inc.'s 33-story Congress at Fourth building. A former restaurant, retail store and bank are being knocked down to make way for the 525,000-sf tower that's to be ready in Nov. 2003.
The four-story office building at 1001 Congress, one block south of the state capitol, is on the way up. The companion to 1005 Congress, the 26,890-sf building is to open in 2002. Congress Holdings Group is the developer.
