Director of Real Estate Jeff Gellerman tells Globest.com that the company will close two stores in Maine, one located in Stanford and the other in Falmouth totaling 146,000 sf of retail space and another in Tilton, New Hampshire where the company has a 32,400 sf store. Gellerman says the three New England stores will be vacated by the end of February 2002. The company hopes that with the 54 store closings it will be financially stronger to operate the remaining 333 locations. Though there are plans to eliminate up to 1000 jobs with the closings the company plans to offer some positions at remaining stores.
