The 168-bed hospital was acquired Dec. 1 from the Hospital Service District No. 2 of the Parish of St. Mary for about $15 million. Lakewood had revenues in its last fiscal year of $20 million. The hospital serves a geographic area comprising 82,000 residents.
Province Healthcare provides health care services in rural markets. The company owns or leases 19 hospitals in 11 states with more than 2,140 beds. Province also offers management services to 34 rural hospitals in 13 states with 2,727 beds.
