Under the contract terms, the VA will lease the building from Hamstra, which is marking its first Arizona project with the development. The project site is an in-fill location at the intersection of Central Avenue and Osborn Road, where the city is planning to install a traffic signal for ingress and egress and designating it as a planned stop for the new light rail transit system. Construction on the office building begins in July 2002.
The project will feature concrete panel walls, steel floor structure, high performance glass, a signature entry feature and covered parking. "The excitement for this project lies in the challenge of the cost effective design while integrating the downtown urban environment," says Jeffrey Maas, Patrick Hayes' director of architecture.
