On the heels of last week's 44% hike in fees charged for rezoning property or redeveloping commercial and industrial sites, county commissioners this week approved a 16% hike in building inspection fees.
The latest fee increase will be used to hire nine new building inspectors. After their hiring, the county will have 20 inspectors and the ability to spend up to 20 minutes on each property site, up from the current average of about half that based on 30 inspections each day for each inspector.
Officials from Clark County were not immediately available to provide examples of costs based on certain types of applications. That information will be added to this report when it is made available.
