The complex stands on a 5-acre parcel at the intersection of Birch Avenue and Mesa Drive. The $21-million property consists of two separate, three-story office buildings. Each one has been built on top of one level of parking.
McCarthy, which occupies 22,000 sf in the complex, also conducted 190,000 sf of site improvements at the site, including a terraced, landscaped plaza area with stamped concrete paving, planters and seating.
The project, which was designed by Watkins, Baile & Associates, was completed within an approximate timeframe of 10 months. The buildings have windows made of blue glass and aluminum frames. The walls have a smooth concrete finish resembling polished marble, which won the complex the Southern California Chapter of the American Concrete Institute's 2001 Excellence in Concrete Award.
