Loan Sought for Junk Site Demolition

ALBION, MI-The Michigan Economic Development Corp. wants to turn an unused brownfield into a tax-paying property with a new industrial park. A $33,500 loan finances demolition and clean-up costs.

This brownfield site is owned by the Michigan Economic Development Corp., which is requesting a revitalization loan for the property. The existing structures must be demolished. The property also must be tested and remediated for chemicals. The land will be then incorporated into an existing industrial park, according to MEDC officials.

The Environmental Response Division of the MDEQ is taking comment on the loan proposal.
