Tony Patronella of Southwest Realty Advisors, Houston, represented the Teamsters Union in the acquisition for 4.4 acres on the northwest corner of Ella Boulevard and Grand Plaza Drive off Beltway 8. Exxon Land Development was the seller. The union currently is located in an office at 3100 Katy Freeway.
Patronella tells GlobeSt.com that the decision comes about four months after the International Brotherhood of Teamsters bought 4.5 acres so it too can relocate from the 3100 Katy Freeway building. The international's land is located in the World Houston Business Center on the north side of Sam Houston Parkway at Diplomatic Plaza Drive, between Vickery and JFK Boulevard.
In an October 2001 interview, Patronella said the 40-year-old Katy Freeway building needed renovation and the union felt the timing was right to hunt for a new spot, he said. The union also maintains an office at 9009 N. Loop East.
