Brian Murphy of Staubach Co. in Dallas tells GlobeSt.com that the dealership has outgrown its FM 1960 location and it's time to trade it in for a new model. The 60,000-sf prototype will be located at the intersection of US Highway 290 and West Road. Murphy represented the buyer of record, Adlar Property. Bill Byrd and Robert S. Parsley, both of the Houston office of Colliers International, negotiated for the seller, San Antonio-based Koontz McCombs 1 Ltd.
Staubach's design and construction services is building the "corporate look" prototype that will come with freeway exposure, one of the key selling points for closing the deal. Factor in the need to expand and it was a done deal. The land was advertised at $4.50 per sf, but the selling price is being kept under wraps. Collier's Parsley could not be reached by press time for comment on the deal.
John Eagle Honda, through its buying entity, also owns Clear Lake Honda and John Eagle Acura. The dealer has been at its present location for nearly two decades.
Murphy's well known in the Dallas retail circles. He explains his national clients, such as Auto Nation and Shoe Carnival, frequently put him on the road heading south to scout for multiple locations in the Houston area.
