Initially, the store was scheduled to open March 27.
This will be the third Whole Foods in the metro area. The Boulder store, which opened in 1998, is the No. 1 store in the company based on sales volume and the Cherry Creek store celebrated its one-year anniversary last December.
Whole Foods will be hiring 200 people to work here.
Architect Sam Brown, with the help of a Whole Foods team, designed the Highlands Ranch store at 9366 S. Colorado Blvd. with a cherry façade. The new store also will feature the chain's first ''Whole Kids'' concept, which is the country's first organic food product line for kids, says Will Paradise, southwest regional president for Whole Foods.
